Praying for my future

Image
I went to the lab this morning to give food to my cells when I saw this envelope on my desk. What excites is not the content of the envelope (as it was only a brochure for a product that they think I might be interested in) but the way they address me ;). I hope that I will hold the title in the future. Maybe in 5 years time? Insya Allah. The letter that came all the way from Sweden ;)

Of evacuation, flood and cleaning

Image
It's been a week since the flood water had gone down. Luckily the water level wasn't as high as they expected or else the effect would have been worst. Even with 4.46m high during peak time the damage was disastrous. The houses that were affected were covered with mud after the water had gone down. The cleaning was another issue. Luckily the people here have a very big heart. Volunteers from everywhere came to help strangers in need without any boundaries. The came all geared up with gumboots and cleaning equipments, helping the affected people clean their house. It's a different sight compared to Malaysia. They even had to send the volunteers back home as they were too many of them and not enough jobs. Its surprising to see Islamic values in a non Islamic communities.  The street looked like a dumpster last weekend as people threw their furniture and personal items on the kerbside waiting for the council the pick them up and threw them somewhere. I wonder where the

I'm fine, don't worry

Salam to all, It's way past my bedtime but I just can't bring myself to sleep with the flooding thing going on. It strikes Brisbane today as the water level of Brisbane started to rise and it is expected to get worst tomorrow when the high tide comes in and water being released from the dam. Uni will be closed tomorrow, so I got a holiday tomorrow. YEAY!! But it's devastating, areas near the Brisbane river such as West End, Milton and South Bank are flooded with water. Even though St Lucia was not listed as one of the flooded risk suburb but there was still flood here where Munro St is totally submerge in water. The corner of Warren St and Sir Fred Schonell Drive can't be accessed by vehicle. Even 412 bus had to detour via Carmody Road. Guyatt Park city cat terminal was nearly under water. People are panicking and you can see empty shelves at groceries stores as people stocked up food during this period.  Please pray that the condition here will not get any

What's new

I was reading up my old posts to find my resolutions for 2010, it turned out that I didn't have any resolution for 2010. The last one that I did was in 2009. So, for this new year; I would hope to achieve the following: 1. Khatam the Quran and understanding its meaning 2. Find a good paying job 3. Live in Malaysia for at least 8 months 4. Continue my PhD (if possible) 5. If given the chance to perform Umrah 6. Save money for Korea or Japan again 7. Want to buy SLR camera 8. Learn Hangeul Have a great year ahead everyone~

Saying Goodbye

I've been saying this word too often in the past fortnight. First my parents heading back home after spending two weeks here in Brisbane with me. Then to my friends whom one after the other left Brisbane for good and lastly to my life in 2010. Time really flies, I still remember what I did on New Year's Day last year. I was roaming on the streets of Paris with two of my travel buddies . Thinking back, one year has already passed and before you know it, it will be another year again. In short, I just want to wish: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!! Hope this year will be better than the last. and keep traveling people!! The world is for us to see.
