Back on court

Yesterday I went to Nottingham University for the annual Nottingham Malaysian Games where I participated in netball. It's been a while since I played netball and I'm glad to be able to play again in a tournament again. Brings me back memories of NCG back in Oz. Well, we didn't make it to the semi as from the 5 groups consisting of 5-6 teams each; only the top 4 teams will make it to semi without going through quarter finals. Don't ask me why they don't have quarter finals, ask the organizers. Though we did win all of our group matches except one. If we would have won that match I guess we would have made it to the semi. Oh well, luck wasn't on our side. We will try harder for other games next year. But, we did have fun. That's the most important thing. The Zombie Invasion

Image
Yesterday I went for Zombie Run 2014 at Putrajaya in conjunction with Hari Belia 2014. There are various time slots and each time slots last 1 hour and we registered for the 5pm slot. Since there’s a few event going on at the same time in Putrajaya, we decided to gather at Wan Ling’s house, parked our car there and car pool to Putrajaya.  We left Wan Ling’s house about 3.30pm and reached Putrajaya at 4.10pm. There was congestion on the road heading towards Precinct 2, 3 and 4 so we decided to just park along the road side and walked to Precinct 4 as the Zombie Run was next to Galleria Precinct 4. The walk to the starting line was about 2km, but we had no choice as we can’t get any closer parking to the event place.  Once we reached at the registration counter, we registered ourselves and we were given the race bibs. The bibs have a small triangle flag attached to it which will represent our lives during the run. We have to keep the flag safe from the zombies...

Run Chicken Run

After one year and a half of not running, I finally ran again this morning for Kenny Rogers Chicken Run. The unique thing about this run was you have to balance an egg on an ice cream cone during the run. The organizers claimed that the distance of the run was 4.8km but when my friend tracked the run it was 6.55km.  Early Sunday morning All runners gathered at Sunway Lagoon entrance at 7am to collect our egg, cone and entrance ticket to Sunway Lagoon. Yes, we were entitled to one day pass into Sunway Lagoon but as all of us wanted to rest as its Sunway, our tickets just burned like that.  Getting in the mood to run with an egg My running partner We finally flagged off at 8.20am after the men’s started their run. Since I was out of practice, I only managed to run 1.5km before I lose my strength and started to walk. It was a mistake on my part to stop running as after that I started to get stitches on my right abdomen which slowed me down. The sun was alread...

Healthy Lifestyle

Image
Since the topic has been quite a major topic in the office, especially when most of us are girls. We decided to have a sports day. Well, not literally sports day with various sports. But just a 2 hours of workout session after work. Since there's quite a number of us, we decided to play futsal for one hour and badminton for another hour. Quite ambitious of us since for all of them, it's their first time playing futsal. But we managed to survive both hours and decided to make it a routine. Maybe every week? It was fun to sweat out again with other people and hope that we do this more often. With Miss Poser. Posing for the camera when she was supposed to be playing futsal. A pose after badminton

NCG Updates

Image
Fuhh (blowing left and right to get rid of the dust on this blog). Sorry everyone for not updating this blog for a while. Everything has been hectic since I got back from my holiday. I've got everything that I want to write in my head, it's just I don't have the time to jot it down. This post will be all about my hopefully last NCG experience.  I've been telling myself after last year's NCG in Sydney that it will be my last NCG and I won't participate in it again this year. But being me who can't keep away from sports for too long I'd took a week off from my honours year for the sake of NCG. One reason was that there was not enough players but I think the major reason is just my eagerness to play.hehe.. But, if you asked me if it was worth it. I would definitely say yes. No doubt. It wasn't the best NCG experience but it was definitely the worst. There were so many shortcomings to it. But I won't go into the details. But in terms of achi...

Sweet Victory

Monday was a public holiday for us, Labour day. Despite being tired due to the camping trip, I have netball competition on that day. It was the Asean Uni Games netball competition. Only three teams participated, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. Singapore was our biggest threat in getting gold. The first match against Brunei was quite unorganized at first but we did compose ourselves and win against them by 43-0. Then the match against Singapore was back to back after the first match. By this time the sun was scorching hot and there were times during the game that  we were tired but we composed ourselves and the loud cheers from the supporters made us high spirited again. When the final whistle blew my heart nearly drop when they said it was a tie. Luckily, they calculated the points again and we won by 1 point with 24-23. This was the best victory ever as we've never won against Singapore before.  To my netball girls: GOOD JOB GIRLS, WE FINALLY DID IT!!! CONGRATULATION...

Holi..holi..day

What I'll be writing in this post is just some things that I did during my two weeks holiday. RAYA Well this is the highlight of the holiday of couse. 12 days of precious time spend with family in Malaysia is just marvelous. For those who have been away from home for and haven't seen their family for quite a while will know this kind of feeling. It's really hard for me to explain it in words. It felt so good to be with your loved ones especially since the extended family are all gathered together. Even my 'aunt' who is in japan is back home for raya. It was a short trip back home. As it was short, an evil thought came across my mind on the last day at home. I wish I could just stop studying in Brisbane and stay at home with my loved ones. I do not want to come back to Brisbane and for the first time, I was close to tears at the airport on my way back. But then I comforted myself by saying that I will be back again in 2 months time so for the time being just be...

Netball

After 3 months of not doing any sports, now I'm back on the field. Tonight was our first netball match for UQ Social Game. We will be playing every Wednesday night starting from tonight for the next 10 weeks. Actually this is our second time entering it, we entered the netball social game last year as well but it was outdoor. As the indoor fees was the same as outdoor, we thought of joining the indoor team this year. This is also part of our training for the coming NCG in July. Hopefully we can get gold this year. I've got bronze and silver for netball but now I want to add gold to the collection..hehe As for tonight's game, we lost 7-20 to Blue & White team. We can actually win this game but I guess it's the first time we (I mean me) played again after a long period of rest. My stamina really sucks..after the 1st quater I was really out of breath and started getting headache. I have to take note to start jogging to gain back my stamina after this....
