NCG Updates
Fuhh (blowing left and right to get rid of the dust on this blog). Sorry everyone for not updating this blog for a while. Everything has been hectic since I got back from my holiday. I've got everything that I want to write in my head, it's just I don't have the time to jot it down. This post will be all about my hopefully last NCG experience.
I've been telling myself after last year's NCG in Sydney that it will be my last NCG and I won't participate in it again this year. But being me who can't keep away from sports for too long I'd took a week off from my honours year for the sake of NCG. One reason was that there was not enough players but I think the major reason is just my eagerness to play.hehe.. But, if you asked me if it was worth it. I would definitely say yes. No doubt.
It wasn't the best NCG experience but it was definitely the worst. There were so many shortcomings to it. But I won't go into the details. But in terms of achievement it was the best and worth the pain. I'll a write a bit about each sports that I played.
Basketball: This is the 3rd year of NCG that female basketball is being competed. For the last 2 years, Queensland only managed to get silver. But luck was on our side this year that we got GOLD. Although there were only 2 teams, but NSW had always been the champion for these past 2 years. So, there were our threats and I guess we had more experience players this year that we managed to win the match.
The basketball team
Netball: We've been aiming to get gold since my first year here and my first year joining the team. For that year we only managed to get bronze. But we tried again the next year in 2008, but we lost to NSW during final by 1 goal which left us with silver. Again last year we came in second. However, after 3 years of disappointment we managed to get GOLD this year. The trainings really paid off and Good job Ika for leading us towards this victory.

Futsal: The only game I had on the second day was futsal. I wasn't confident to play as I had muscle pain on my right leg which was my shooting leg. Though I've put lots of deep heat and heating patches, they don't seem to work. But as this was my last game I though I just had to give my all and go all out. Queensland sent 2 teams for female futsal and our aim was to meet each other in finals so that gold and silver will be ours. And we did it, both of the teams were 2nd in the grouping stage and we managed to win during semi and see each other in final. It was finally a dream came true. We also aimed the same thing last year but only one team managed to get silver while the other didn't even make it through the grouping stage. But in AUG we made it happened and hopefully we'll make it happen again in AUG this year next Saturday.
Celebrating our victory after the final match
So all in all, I've brought back 3 golds from Canberra this year. I guess it's the perfect way to end my NCG days. I'm gonna miss every NCG moments that I had and I do hope that I won't stop playing even after I've done back to Malaysia.
Till then~
