Initially at Christchurch we stayed at a friend's place only the last night before flying back we stayed at the backpackers. It's the same for Wellington. That's why there's no accommodation for Wellington here.

The guys at the Spa Lodge Backpackers at Rotorua are very nice. I left my glasses behind at the hostel, they post the glasses back to me in Brisbane for free saying that it was a Christmas present from there. Aren't they sweet?
