Hiking in the middle of the city
Salam,
Until last week, I never new a reserved forest exist in PJ. It turned out there's one near Jalan Gasing, PJ. My colleagues were talking about it as they went there last weekend and they were planning to go hiking again this weekend. As I promised myself that I want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, I went with them this morning for a hike. Four of us were supposed to go together but the other two had something to do so they were only me and my colleague, Yanthi.
If anyone wants to go hiking here, it's best to start early so that it's not hot and it's easier to get parking.
This morning, we started at about 7.45am. There are a few tracks that visitors can take. We took the Denai 1 route as my colleague is more familiar with this route. This route took us uphill until we saw watch tower, then a series of downhill and uphill until we came to a suspension bridge. Here, there's option: either walk across the bridge, or you can use the track (which went downhill and uphill). After the suspension bridge, there was a killer hill which was a steep uphill track about 1km long. It's steep and it will test your stamina. The best way to tackle it is to go slow and steady.
It was a good experience and since I haven't been hiking/doing sports for quite a while, it was a good exercise. I really recommend this place to who ever is reading this post.. To complete the track that I went this morning, took about one hour and a half on a normal walking pace. It may take longer or shorter depending on the individual. Overall, I'm very satisfied and will definitely go there again.
