Wet Christmas in Wales Part 2
Hi all,
This post is a continuation from my post yesterday on my recent trip to Wales.
Day 3
We started the day quite early as we wanted to cover a lot of places today and the weather looks promising. We departed from our accommodation around 8 in the morning and the first stop was Newport Sands Beach, a beautiful beach with breathtaking view and surroundings. The place was filled with families taking their children and dogs out for a walk. Its very family friendly.
After that we went to Strumble Head Lighthouse which I think is still a functional lighthouse at present. The panorama around this area was seriously beautiful especially the cliffs and the sea. The only downside was the weather. Well, what do you expect on a winder day in the UK. This is the best that we can get and at least it didn't rain. Thank God.
The next destination was an ex quarry area turned into the bluest ever lagoon I've ever see and hence the name of the place, Blue Lagoon. This place used to be a Slate quarry but once the channel that connects the quarry to the sea broke, it formed this breathtakingly, beautiful lagoon. To get to the lagoon, you need to walk about 10-15 minutes from the car park. The trail was not hard at all, even children can do it easily.
After seeing water and mountains the whole morning, we head to the smallest city in UK with population of only 2,000 people called St David's. Despite being the smallest city in the UK, it is the home of the largest cathedral in Wales named (you may be able to guess), St David's Cathedral. This cathedral is dedicated to the patron saint of Wales, which is also his resting place. Here also I experienced performing my prayer due to time limitation of finding a suitable place.
There's nothing much in this city except for the cathedral and ice cream (who would say no to ice cream even on a cold winter day). Since it was already dark and nothing much to see, we decided to head back to our accommodation and call it a day.
Day 4
The last day of our trip, where we will head our own ways; the Boltoners will head north and the Coventrian (I just made this made this up, not sure if it is even a proper word) head to the walled town of Tenby before we separated our ways. Due to its strategic location, Tenby was a place that was easy to defend but hard to attack in the old days and this was further strengthen by the castle wall around the town area. At present, Tenby is a very colourful town where some of them are B&B and is a famous tourist town especially during the warm months.
After all the sight seeing, it's shopping time as we didn't really enjoy our boxing day. So, we head to Swindon Factory outlet and the others even stopped at Bichester Designer Outlet on their way back to Coventry. At that time, I was already on my way back to Bristol from Swindon.
Overall, it was a very good trip despite the weather. The company was great and I even made new friends. Well, this will be my last road trip with this bunch (nay) as I'll be heading back home for good in a month's time. However, let's hope that the bond will not end here and let's keep the friendship till we're old with wrinkles and grey hair. Missing you all already!
Till then~
