Kuching with Drama Queens Day 3
We started the day later than previous day. Since the cave closed yesterday, we
went to Wind Cave in Bau first. It’s called Wind Cave as you can feel a slight
breeze when walking inside the cave. The entrance fee was only RM1. The cave
was very dark, you need to bring torch light in here as it’s very dark. (You
can use your hand phone light or you can rent head lamp for RM3 at the ticket
counter).
You
can see the stalactite, stalagmite and some fruit bats in the cave. There’s a
total of three passage trails inside the cave and there’s a boardwalk
throughout the trails. It took us 1 hour to cover all the three trails. Be
careful when you walk along the trail as the railings were covered with guano
and it’s a bit slippery at some places. It would be better if they put some
yellow light inside the cave to enhance some of the structures inside the cave.

After
this cave, we head to Blue Lake, which was about 2km away from Wind Cave.
There’s actually nothing here but this lake used to be a mining site years ago
before it was turned into a lake.
Next
we went to Fairy Cave. Beware, this cave has a lot of stairs to get to it but
it was worth it. Though some people may be tired due to the amount of stairs
and it might be difficult for elderly people and young kids. When we went into
the cave, it’s like you’re in another world. The scenery in the cave was just
beautiful. I felt that I can just stay here and be isolated from the outside
world (introvert much?hehe).

Then
we head to Matang Wildlife Park which is 1 hour away from Fairy Cave. This was
to make up for not seeing much at Semenggoh Wildlife Park. Here, there’s a
trail called animal enclosure trail that you can follow that takes about 1 hour
round trip. You can see various animals here such as crocodile, owl, deer,
orang utan, sun bear and hornbill.

Since
it was too early to go back to our hostel, on the way back to Kuching, we went
to Satok Weekend Market and had our late lunch at Kubah Ria Food Court next to
the market area. This weekend market opens Saturday and Sunday from early
morning till 10pm. You can find, Sarawak Layer Cake, Salted Terubuk Fish, Laksa
Sarawak paste, Tabaloi (Sago snack) and other items. The items that I listed
out are some of the stuffs that are famous among tourist.

At
the back of the market building, there are stalls like the night market stalls
that you see in West Malaysia selling various foods. You can also find Sago
Worm for 40 cent per piece.
Then we went back to our hostel to park our car
there and then we head to Kuching Waterfront again. Before we call it a day, we
bought Ramli burgers from a nearby stall and ate it at the hostel common area.
