Wet Christmas in Wales Part 2

Image
Hi all, This post is a continuation from my post yesterday on my recent trip to Wales. Day 3 We started the day quite early as we wanted to cover a lot of places today and the weather looks promising. We departed from our accommodation around 8 in the morning and the first stop was Newport Sands Beach, a beautiful beach with breathtaking view and surroundings. The place was filled with families taking their children and dogs out for a walk. Its very family friendly. After that we went to Strumble Head Lighthouse which I think is still a functional lighthouse at present. The panorama around this area was seriously beautiful especially the cliffs and the sea. The only downside was the weather. Well, what do you expect on a winder day in the UK. This is the best that we can get and at least it didn't rain. Thank God. The next destination was an ex quarry area turned into the bluest ever lagoon I've ever see and hence the name of the place, Blue Lagoon. Th...

Wet Christmas in Wales Part 1

Image
Hi all, I just came back from a weekend road trip to Wales. It was a 4 days 3 nights with the Snowdon gang plus another family. As my sister said, geng makcik-makcik. Since I'm currently residing in Bristol, I have to go to Coventry on Xmas Eve to meet up with the others as our journey starts from there.  Day 1 We were supposed to start our journey at 5 am as daylight was very limited during winter season and we wanted to get as much out of it as possible. However, my friend's car decided that it was too cold and want to stay in bed (read: car won't start). Luckily she has good neighbors that helped her out and managed to jump start the car with another car. At about 6.45 am we started our journey to the first pit stop of Brecon Beacon National Park. We had high hope for the day to do some walking around the national park. Sadly the weather decided to betrayed us as it rained heavily the whole day. So when we went to Breacon Beacon Information Centre to meet up...

Mary Poppins: The Musical

Image
Hi all, Last night I went out in the storm to watch Mary Poppins The Musical at Bristol Hippodrome. I think out of all the musicals that I've watched to date (I have not watch that many, this is only my 4th), this was the best out of all of it. It even surpass Wicked, which was my favourite till yesterday.  The official poster All I can say was that the show was perfect in every way. From the pop-up book like of 17 Cherry Tree Lane, Upside down chimney sweeper and Mary Poppins flying out into the crowd at the end of the show. Not to mention the songs were also great as well. Even for someone who already watched the movie like me. I would really recommend this musical to theatre lovers.  It's now showing at Bristol till the 28th of November. But it will tour other parts of the country after the show finishes here. Here's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious for you:

Book Review: Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck

Image
Hi all, I just finished reading a book by a well-known Indonesian writer called Hamka entitled Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck (The Sinking of Van der Wijck). I think this is the best book that I've read so far and I really enjoyed reading this book. The language is so beautiful although the story is quite sad. I do not know whether the book is available in English or not as the original book is in Indonesian language. I tried reading the one in Indonesian language but it was quite hard to understand. So I opt for a Malaysian version by PTS that is a bit easier to understand with a list of glossary of words at the back. The book - Indonesian version  The book - Malaysian version So, if you're thinking of reading a new book; I would really recommend this book by Hamka. There's also a movie of the same title which I've still yet to watch. Hence, I can't give a review of the movie yet. Will do so once I've watched it. Poster of the movie ...
