Day
3:We woke up a bit late today as it was raining. Actually, it was a very nice
morning to sleep in. We got dressed for Ami’s wedding which was held at Holland
Park Mosque. We reached there just in time for her wedding ceremony at the
mosque. The ceremony was very simple; the imam gave us a short tazkirah on
wedding and proceeds with the wedding vows. Once they’ve exchanged vows, the
imam announced them husband and wife. They signed their marriage certificate
there and got their certificate right away.

Alhamdulillah, all done. Signing the registration book and marriage cert.

After that, we
head to the hall opposite the mosque for their wedding reception. Their
reception was similar to a wedding reception in Malaysia with pelamin, photo
booth and Malay food served during the reception. I met a lot of familiar faces
during the reception. I even met an old friend whom I haven’t met since 2008
(if I’m not mistaken).

After the
wedding; we (without Ciktie) went to DFO Airport for some shopping. We don’t
know whether we will have time to come here later on during our stay here in
Australia so we just shop, though we have to ensure that we still have money
for the remainder of the trip. I dearly miss this place, a place where you can
get various items for very cheap price. Even if you convert it to Malaysian
Ringgit, it’s still cheaper.
DFO as I remember it
That night, we
went to West End for dinner at a place called Makanan Indonesian where we met
our friends who are still in Brisbane, either studying or working. It was good
to catch up with these people as it reminded us of the time that we were
studying here. Though all of us have taken our own paths, meeting up like this
felt like the old days and I hope that our friendship will last for a long
time.

After dinner, we
head to South Bank for dessert/supper at San Churros. A new hangout place (it
wasn’t there during my uni days) in South Bank serving Spanish doughnut
(churros) and other items. We ordered two dishes to share between the four of
us as we were still full from dinner. Then we walked around South Bank for a
short while before heading home.

By the time we reached home, it was already
midnight. Before going to bed, we managed to book our accommodation at Grafton
for the following night.
Extra: The imam weds Ami and Nazerul followed by prayer to bless the newly wed couple. The solemnization was a lot simpler than the one held in Malaysia.
