Ola Barcelona: Day 2

Image
Second day of Barcelona. We initially wanted to go to Montserrat but we though it'll be too rushed if we go there; so we decided to stay in Barcelona instead as since we've already bought tickets for Sagrada Familia, we head there the first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, when we went outside; it rained. Since it rained, we can't go up the tower due to safety reason. For that, we exchanged our tower ticket for an audio guide for this place. If you ever plan to visit the Sagrada Familia, I would really recommend to get an audio guide. At least you'll learn something about the place. Sagrada Familia is Gaudi's unfinished work and not complete to this date. Even after 100 years, it is still not complete. The construction started in 1885 and expected to complete is 2026. Hopefully they'll get it done by then. This place is really spectacular. If anybody comes to Barcelona and don't know which one to go, I would really recommend this place; especially arc...

Ola Barcelona: Day 1

Image
Hello everyone! After resting and moving room, I'm here to write about my recent Easter Escapade at Spain and Portugal. So, I'll start with our first pit stop, Barcelona. We took the 8.15am flight from London Stansted and arrived at Barcelona around 11.30am local time. Spain's time is 1 hour ahead of London. Once we arrived at the airport, we took the train to Barcelona Central. If you're planning to use the public transport in Barcelona, I would recommend the 10 trip ticket. The ticket costs €9.95 (for zone 1) for 10 journeys and many people can use 1 ticket. So you can share the ticket with your travel companions. This is the most cost-effective way to go to city center as single ticket from the airport will cost you €4.10 to Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Garcia station (Barcelona Central). Snowy mountain tops. London -> Barcelona Barcelona at last! As our accommodation was near Sagrada Familia, we had to change at Passeig de Garcia and change to the p...

We'll be touring Spain and Portugal this time. My whereabouts for the next 11 days Do pray for the safety of our journey. Will write about it once I'm back. Happy holidays everyone! Till then~

Thank you..Google Doc

Hello everyone, This is a rare post from me. I usually post mainly on food and travel stories but today I want to share something that I just out last month My course here requires a lot of group work and when I mean a lot, at least one for each module which usually involves group presentation. When working in a group, we have our parts to prepare and it is a pain in the ass trying to keep up with the different versions of the document. The conventional method that we've done so far have been creating a Facebook group and preparing our slides using power point, them uploading our ppt document to the Facebook group. Whoever uploads the updated version have to delete the previous version to avoid confusion and to ensure that we all have the latest version of the presentation. For the last five group work, things got better with Google Doc or in our case it was Google Slides (because it was mainly presentation that we work in group). With Google Slides, we just need our google a...

Memorizing the Quran

Have you ever find yourself trying to memorize the Quran but the progress is always slow and you get demotivated? Well here are some tips and tricks that I've learned from a recent talk by Brother Abdurrahman Al-Khanati. Where to start?  1. There's a good website called House of Quran that you can use as your reference as it gives you word by word recitation and meaning which is very helpful for the purpose of learning. 2. Lower your standard by starting small. It can be as smal1 as 1 word or 1 sentence per day. 3. Take your time in memorizing. It's OK if it will take you ages to memorize 1 surah. If you memorize it quickly, you'll forget it quickly as well. 4.  To prevent forgetting the next ayat, attach the last word from the last ayat to next one when memorizing. 5. Revise your memorization during prayer. 6. Make it a habit. Revise whatever you learn in the week during the weekend. 7. Make a picture of the scenario to help you remember the meaning. Now th...

Burger&Lobster

I've recently heard of this place from my sister. They have 2 branches in the UK: London and Cardiff. Since we were in Cardiff yesterday for my sister's birthday, we decided to check the place out. This place is so simple. They only have 3 things on their menu; Burger, Lobster or Lobster Roll with fries, salad, and lemon and herb butter sauce on the side. All of the three items cost £20. Personally I think the price is a bit steep for burger and the lobster roll, that's why we chose Lobster. Hungry faces waiting for our food So, if you're craving for some Lobster; I would definitely recommend this place. But get ready to be messy and it will get messy half way through. Though it might not look big, believe me; it is. I was so full at the end of the meal. So if you have a small appetite, do share it. Our grilled lobster Nyum nyum P/S: Sorry as I did not take many photo as I was too hungry to think about anything else.
